Missouri-Inspired Recipe Named "America's Best Recipe" Contest Grand Prize Winner!

All across the United States, fans were encouraged to submit their locally-inspired recipes as part of our “America’s Best Recipe” Contest. Today, we're excited to announce that Kellie W.’s World’s Fair Lemon Meringue Ice Cream Cones are the best recipe in America!

“Eggland’s Best is proud to announce Kellie’s World’s Fair Lemon Meringue Ice Cream Cones as the best recipe in America,” said Charlie Lanktree, President and CEO of Eggland’s Best. “This Contest has shown yet again the many unique and creative ways our fans across the country use Eggland’s Best eggs to enhance the taste, freshness, and nutrition of their recipes.”

The Eggland’s Best “America’s Best Recipe” Contest challenged EB-enthusiasts to create unique dishes that combined great tasting and nutritious EB eggs with their favorite state-inspired ingredients.

As a true St. Louisan, Kellie’s dish was inspired by the famous World’s Fair in 1904, where the ice cream cone was originally invented. Her ice cream recipe called for egg yolks, which left Kellie with a bowl of egg whites and prompted her to make a meringue topping. This addition acted as the perfect accent to her tart lemon ice cream.

“I am beyond excited to have been chosen as the Grand Prize Winner in the Eggland's Best America's Best Recipe Contest! I cook a lot and I always have Eggland's Best eggs on hand to use in everything from breakfast to dessert,” said Grand Prize Winner Kellie W. “Not only do Eggland's Best eggs have the best flavor, but they are also extremely nutritious, which is important to me. The rich golden yolks in EB eggs give a beautiful color to the ice cream in my World's Fair Lemon Meringue Ice Cream Cones.

As the Grand Prize winner, Kellie will be awarded $10,000 and a year supply of Eggland’s Best eggs. She plans to put the money toward her son’s college savings, some home projects and a trip to Italy with her husband in the spring.
