These double chocolate baked donuts are an easy-to-make sweet treat perfect for the whole family! This recipe calls for far less sugar than regular donuts and are baked instead of fried. These donuts are topped with a homemade chocolate glaze that will satisfy any chocolate craving.

Ingredients

Donuts:

3/4 c. of Flour

1/3 c. of Unsweetened Cocoa Powder

2 Tbsp. of Sugar

2 Tbsp. of Brown Sugar

1 tsp. of Baking Powder

a pinch of Salt

1/2 tsp of Baking Soda

2 Eggland's Best Eggs, large

1/2 c. of Lite Buttermilk (or make your own by adding 1/2 tsp. of vinegar in a glass measuring cup, then filling it up to 1/2cup)

1/4 c. of Unsweetened Applesauce

Frosting:

2 Tbsp. mini chocolate chips

1 tsp. Coconut oil

Preparation

  1. Mix together flour, unsweetened cocoa powder, sugar, baking powder, salt, and baking soda and set aside.
  2. In another bowl mix Eggland's Best eggs, buttermilk, and apple sauce.
  3. Mix the bowl of dry ingredients with the wet ingredients.
  4. Take your donut tin, and spray with cooking oil.
  5. Distribute the batter evenly into 9 donuts.
  6. Bake in the oven at 350° for about 12 mins.

To Make Frosting:

  1. Melt chocolate chips and coconut oil on a plate (this will make frosting easier!).
  2. Mix thoroughly.
  3. Dip baked donuts in the chocolate.
