Preheat oven to 350°F
In large bowl, cream shortening and sugar until light and fluffy.
Add eggs, one a a time, beating well after each addition.
Beat in vanilla.
Combine the flour, cocoa, baking soda , and salt. Gradually add to creamed mixture and mix well.
Roll into 1-1/2 inch balls and place 2 inches apart on ungreased baking sheets.
Bake at 350°F for 13-16 minutes or until set.
Remove to wire racks to cool.
