Ingredients

1 Eggland's Best egg, large

1 Savory Bagel (Choose from varieties like Everything, Sesame, or Sea Salt - select based on your flavor preferences.

1 tablespoon High-Quality Olive Oil or European-Style Butter (Use olive oil for a Mediterranean twist or butter for a richer, more traditional flavor).

1-2 tablespoons Premium Cream Cheese (Allow to soften at room temperature for 15-20 minutes for easier spreading).

4 ounces Premium Cold-Smoked Salmon (Look for thinly sliced, bright pink salmon with a silky texture).

Briny Capers, for garnishing (These tiny flavor bombs add the perfect salty pop).

House-Made or Store-Bought Pickled Red Onions, for garnishing.

Fresh Dill and/or Chives, for garnishing.

Flaky Sea Salt & Freshly Ground Black Pepper, to taste.

Preparation

  1. Preheat a griddle or cast iron skillet over medium high heat. Add the olive oil or butter to melt.
  2. Slice the bagel in half lengthwise. Place interior side down on the griddle. If needed, use a 1-2” cookie cutter to create a larger center hole in the top bagel slice.
  3. Crack the egg into the center of the top bagel slice.
  4. Monitor the bottom bagel slice carefully - when it achieves a beautiful golden-brown color with crispy edges (typically 2-3 minutes), remove it from the griddle and set aside. This will be your foundation layer.
  5. Either transfer the bagel to the oven at 350F to finish cooking for 4-5 minutes, or flip the bagel with a spatula to finish cooking until desired doneness.
  6. Layer the bottom bagel slice with cream cheese, capers, smoked salmon, pickled onions, and fresh herbs.
  7. Crown your creation with the egg-topped bagel half, seasoning the egg with a pinch of flaky sea salt and freshly ground black pepper. Serve immediately.
