Easy Egg Drop Soup

Ingredients
4 cups of chicken stock
3 Eggland's Best eggs, large
½ tsp sesame oil
¾ tsp salt
⅛ tsp sugar
½ tsp turmeric
⅛ tsp MSG (optional)
3 tbsp cornstarch
⅓ cup water
¼ cup finely chopped scallions (optional for garnish)
Preparation
- In a medium pot, add chicken stock. Heat on medium high heat for 2 minutes.
- Add sesame oil, salt, sugar, and MSG (optional).
- In a small mixing bowl, whisk together cold water and cornstarch until completely smooth to create a slurry.
- While stirring the simmering broth constantly, gradually stream in the cornstarch slurry. Continue cooking for 3 minutes until slightly thickened.
- Crack eggs into a bowl and beat lightly with a fork until just combined.
- Using a circular motion, slowly drizzle the beaten eggs into the hot soup while continuously stirring gently with a spoon.
- Let simmer for 5 more minutes until egg ribbons are fully set. Top with chopped scallions if desired and serve hot.
