If you love to drink hot chocolate, you're going to love this Hot Chocolate Cake! With these secret ingredients, you'll turn a boxed cake mix into a bakery style cake! It's covered in a homemade marshmallow buttercream frosting. Sprinkle some chocolate on top and enjoy!

Ingredients

Chocolate Cake:

1 Box Devil's Food Cake (15.25 oz)

1 small box of instant chocolate pudding

3 Eggland's Best eggs, large

1/2 cup oil

1 cup water

1/2 cup sour cream

Marshmallow Buttercream Frosting:

1 small (7oz) container of marshmallow creme

1 cup unsalted butter, softened

1 teaspoon vanilla

3 cups powdered sugar

2 TBSP heavy whipping cream divided

Preparation

Chocolate Cake Instructions:

  1. Mix the cake and pudding powder with a whisk. Add the Eggland's Best Eggs, oil, water, and sour cream until well combined. Divide the batter between 2 - 8 inch cake pans with parchment paper. Bake in a preheated 350* oven for 20-22 minutes until a knife comes out clean. Let cool completely.

Marshmallow Buttercream Instructions:

  1. In a large bowl, using a mixer, mix the fluff, butter, and vanilla for about 2 minutes. Add half the powdered sugar and 1 Tablespoon cream. Mix for a minute. Add the remaining powdered sugar and cream and mix until fluffy.

Cake assembly:

  1. Assemble the cake with frosting in the middle and on top. Using a knife flick up the frosting. Grate some chocolate on top. Cut and serve. Makes 12 servings.
